Rhine River at Bingen, Germany

Saturday May 27, 1961

Rhine River Excursion Steamer coming up river to dock at Bingen.

This was the first of two Rhine River trips I took while in Germany.
Carl Heskett, Robert Martin, David Cook and I took this trip together.

Bingen was a short train ride away, less than 12 miles north of Bad Kreuznach.

The boat went down river to Koblenz, and back.
Since the Rhine is such a swift-flowing river, the return trip takes about 1 hour longer than the down river leg.
The return trip ticket could be used to take the train back to Bingen if one chose to do so.
On this trip we stayed on the boat for about a five hour total trip.
